Students and Parents,
Students are going to the Movies!!!
The student department will go to see The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe after church on Sunday, December 11. If you and/or your student would like to go, please RSVP with me by Saturday, January 9 at 11 a.m. by calling me on my cell or emailing me. I will order tickets on Saturday and if you have not called, I cannot guarantee there will be seats available (this is opening weekend and the theater will definitely sell out of seats).
We will leave church at noon, grab some lunch and go to the movie. Since show times are not available at the writing of this letter, pick up time will be confirmed when you RSVP. You and/or your student will need to bring money for lunch and the movie (around $6 for lunch and $6 for the movie). Bring extra money if you want snacks while watching the show.
Second Annual Winter Lock In
Also, we will be having our 2nd annual winter lock-in on Sunday, January 1. Check-in is at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and students can be picked up at 8 a.m. on Monday morning.
Last year we had over 50 students attend this event. I’m confident it was memorable and spiritually beneficial. Let’s work to have twice that number of students this year. Please encourage your students to attend and to invite many of their friends (there will be a prize for the student who brings the most!!).
During the event, we will:
† Go to King Louie/Ice Chateau for unlimited bowling, pool and ice skating
† Watch an awesome band
† Eat lots of good food
† Listen to an awesome guest speaker from Wake Forest Divinity School in North Carolina
† Participate in fun activities (games, movies, karaoke, etc)
This event will be $25 per student but will be free for the first 30 students that sign up and return their permission/medical slips!!! We also will be partnering with Winwood Baptist Church and Loma Vista Baptist Church, so there will be lots of new faces.
Each student who plans to attend will need to:
- Complete and return the enclosed permission/medical slip by December 18.
- Bring a sleeping bag and pillow (if they plan to sleep!)
- Bring spending money for treats at King Louie
- Bring a suggested donation of $5 to help support a needy student in Kenya
- Leave CD players, Game Boys and other electronics at home
